Senior pictures have options here in Kansas City. Take the accompanied senior picture, for instance. Is this really what he and his mom thought they would find in their collection to choose from when they came in? Probably not. But we here at SeniorPhotosKC like to do new and daring things.
This piece of artwork was created from an original photo by a Digital Artist that we hire on a contract basis here at Portraits Today Studios. I would love to tell you that I created this. But it wouldn’t be true. Who is the artist? Well, I won’t give his name without his permission. But he is a sophomore over at Olathe Northwest High School.
The fun of working with high school seniors is turning their senior photo collection towards their personalities. When talking to and working with high school seniors I get to know a little about them. What makes them tick? How do they see themselves? How do their parents see them?
After the conversations and the photo shoot I take what I’ve learned and turn it towards post-production where we make some pretty cool senior picture collections for our Kansas City area residents. After all, if you could simply get your friends to use their Canon Rebels to take your photos to save money, you might do so. But then you’d miss out on some of the cool things we can do for you.
Keep a look-out for more cool portraits to come from this senior session. We also did some pretty cool things with a grunge background and some of the best composite portraits I have ever put together.

On May 9, 2009 from 11:00 to 3:00 Senior Photos KC will be holding an Open House for all graduates of the Class of 2010. The purpose of this open house is to let you come in and see our work.
Parents and seniors-to-be are all welcome. We are located in The Crossroads Shopping Center on the SW corner of MurLen & Santa Fe behind Nill Brothers Sports and Taco Via.
You can pre-register to win a drawing for an iPod that will be given away at the end of the Open House. You do not need to be present to win and there are two ways to register.
The first way is to show up at the Open House and fill out a drawing form. The second way is to join our emailing list so we can keep you up to date with this blog and let you know of any specials. If you register by email you will have to also register at our studio on May 9. But then you will have two entries to win!

Had the pleasure last evening of taking some senior pictures for a soon-to-be graduate of Olathe Northwest High School. He was a very pleasant young man who seems to know what he wants to do in the future. We took some traditional photos of him, which his mom loved. And we also created the portrait below. Both Matt and Mom loved the photo enough that Matt got many wallets and mom got 5×7s.
Everyone has different goals in what they want from their senior portrait session. My only goal is to make you look good, may you happy and create memories that will last a lifetime. Bring your ideas. Bring your good attitude. Bring a change of clothes. We’ll do the rest.

I like to mountain bike. And yesterday I went out riding trying to re-establish the health of this 43 year old body. While out riding I found a couple of great new locations for Senior Pictures.
Ladies, imagine standing in a slow moving stream with your dress hiked up just enough to keep it dry.
Gentlemen, imagine the splash of your tires as you ride your bike through. Or stand there with your pants legs rolled up.
Or whatever scenario we might come up with while we are out there. We have fantastic studios. But now that it’s getting warmer I’m itching to get outside a little. To experiment. To create some truly memorable senior portraits.
We’ve got a couple more Class of 2009 high school seniors we are taking here in the next ten days. So stay tuned for more images to come.
Below we have pictured a beautiful young lady from Olathe North High School who came in for her senior portrait. When you look though our pricing/investment page you will see the term “- touch ups and b/w included.” Here you have an example of the kinds of touch up we can do and will do.
No one wants to have a senior picture hanging on their parents’ walls with skin blemishes and such. So we promise to get rid of nearly all of them on your final portrait. Of course, some want a more natural look on some if not all their pictures. That’s okay, too. Whatever you like. (Most get a mix.)

I know. I know. Your mom wants a formal senior picture. And since she’s probably paying the bill, we’re gonna do those. But I’ll bet she’d love to see your personality in a set of senior photos, also.
This young lady is an assistant at a local gym for kids. She’s fun. She’s a little impulsive. And she wanted something a little different. This photos symbolizes all of that. Breaking away from the ordinary. Busting out from her black and white world. Ready for her next step in life.
Your senior portraits session doesn’ t have to be more of the same. Just like everyone else’s. Some will want to stay with the traditional. That’s fine. We do those, too. Some want to play a little. Lucky for those, we do that, too!
